Set in Hemingford, Nebraska, shortly after the events of the original film, the story explores the unsettling aftermath as locals take in surviving children from Gatlin, unaware of their dark ties to the demonic entity, He Who Walks Behind the Rows. Micah, one of the cult members, becomes possessed, reigniting the sinister forces within the cornfields. Amidst this chaos, city reporter John Garrett arrives in Hemingford with his son Danny, seeking to salvage his career while grappling with personal tensions stemming from his failed relationship with Danny's mother. As John investigates, he reconnects with colleagues Bobby Knite and Wayde McKenzie, whose ill-fated shortcut through the cornfield leads to their demise during a violent, unnatural storm. Meanwhile, John begins a romantic relationship with Angela Casual, a local bed-and-breakfast owner. Danny, distancing himself from his father, befriends Lacey, a mysterious orphan who unveils chilling secrets about Gatlin. The narrative intertwines familial struggles, investigative journalism, and supernatural terror, as the town's well-meaning efforts to help the children inadvertently invite a resurgence of malevolent forces.
