In a post-apocalyptic Australia, the Green Place of Many Mothers stands as a rare sanctuary with fresh water and agriculture amidst the radioactive desolation. During a peach-picking excursion, Furiosa and Valkyrie encounter Roobillies who discover the Green Place. Attempting to sabotage their motorcycles, Furiosa is captured and taken as a prize for Dementus, leader of the Biker Horde. Her mother, Mary Jabassa, pursues the captors to rescue her daughter but is intercepted by Dementus. In an act of sacrifice, Mary provides Furiosa with a peach pit as a keepsake and urges her to escape. Refusing to abandon her mother, Furiosa is forced to witness Mary’s brutal crucifixion and torture by Dementus's lieutenant, The Octoboss. Stricken by the loss of his own family, Dementus adopts Furiosa as his daughter. She later tattoos a star chart on her arm, mapping the way back to the Green Place, symbolizing her determination to return to the sanctuary and reclaim her roots.
