In December 1944, Lieutenant Colonel Daniel Kiley, a military intelligence officer, conducts a reconnaissance flight over the Ardennes forest and identifies a German staff car. Utilizing his camera, he captures images of its occupants before the low-altitude flight unnerves the driver, prompting him to abandon the vehicle. Colonel Hessler, the passenger, reprimands the driver for wasting valuable petrol by failing to turn off the engine. Hessler proceeds to an underground military base for a critical briefing led by General Kohler. During the meeting, Kohler outlines a highly confidential operation aimed at reclaiming Antwerp, a strategic objective in the ongoing conflict. Hessler is assigned a pivotal role in the mission, commanding a brigade equipped with advanced King Tiger tanks to spearhead the offensive.
