In the year 2154, Earth faces severe environmental degradation and depletion of natural resources. To address these challenges, the Resources Development Administration (RDA) conducts operations on Pandora, a verdant and habitable moon in the Alpha Centauri system. Pandora is rich in unobtanium, a highly valuable mineral, but its atmosphere is toxic to humans. The moon is home to the Na'vi, an intelligent, nature-revering species characterized by their towering stature and blue skin. To facilitate exploration and interaction, human scientists operate Na'vi-human hybrid bodies known as "avatars," which are genetically tailored to their operators. Jake Sully, a paraplegic former Marine, is recruited to replace his late twin brother, who was originally part of the Avatar Program. Despite initial skepticism from Dr. Grace Augustine, the program's lead scientist, Jake is accepted as an operator and begins his mission on Pandora.
