A series of murders has occurred in Tokyo, Osaka, and Kyoto, prompting a joint investigation by the police forces of the three cities. The victims were identified as members of the notorious thief group "Genji Fireflies," each bearing code names inspired by historical figures associated with Minamoto no Yoshitsune. Meanwhile, Kogoro Mouri and his team were invited to Kyoto's Sannoji Temple to investigate the theft of a Yakushi Nyorai Buddha statue that had been stolen eight years ago. The temple provided new information regarding the statue's whereabouts, hoping for its swift recovery. Concurrently, Heiji Hattori arrived in Kyoto to pursue leads on the murder case, where he encountered Conan Edogawa. Together, they began unraveling the connections between the murders and the stolen artifact, piecing together clues that could shed light on both mysteries.
